Every day we receive e-mails and calls from new players asking for disc recommendations. After years of instructing new players and recommending starter discs to thousands of players, we’ve boiled down our favorites to the list below. Please note that our recommendations change based on the number of discs you would like to purchase.
The 3-Disc Beginner Set
There are three major classifications for golf discs: Drivers, Mid-range (a.k.a. Multi-purpose), and Putters. We generally recommend that new players start with a set of three discs, so that they can see and feel the differences in each type of disc. If you are looking to pick up a set of three discs, then you should select one disc from each category below.

The 2-Disc Beginner Set
If you are looking to start with just two discs, then we recommend a fairway driver (short driver or long mid-range) and a putter. Since the driver will need to be used for teeing off and approaching, we recommend you select one from each category below.

The Single Beginner Disc
If simplicity is your goal, then it is tough to find a simpler approach than picking up just one disc. To play with just one disc, we recommend selecting a mid-range/multi-purpose disc. These discs are designed to offer medium distance (for driving), while providing great accuracy (for approaching and putting). Below are our favorite discs if you’re selecting just one.
